South America is really big and I have never been there. I am leaving the safety of my teaching job to explore 5 spanish-speaking countries and to walk in the footsteps of Charles Darwin on the Galapagos Islands. I am hoping that neither the perilous altitudes of Ecuador, the ravenous midges in the Peruvian rainforest or the crazy Bolivian bus drivers will kill me... I will doubtless meet other people on the edge of sanity who feel the need to wander away from safety. I hope we can be friends.

Salad at Cea
The people here are just so kind. A lovely lady in a shop has phoned the private hostal at Silleda and booked a private room for me Tommorrow night (only 10 Euros and I get no snoring!). A lovely chap escorted me to A great local place when I asked where I could get a salad for lunch. The menu is wonderful - but I have another 9 km to go afterwards to Oseira.
The salad was great, with pan de Cea, the lovely local bread of the reign. The woman in the cafe gave me an almond cake to take with me as I left and I paid Euro 4.
I am trying to buy a swimming costume at the moment and then to Oseira... Lets hope the midgets will keep away.
