I spent a really happy hour at the Brand New Pilgrim Museum, and strongly endorse all previous recommendations. There is a fabulous 3D model of the Cathedral, and information in 4 languages, including English, about its construction. I was amazed to learn that people have added to ir for 700 years. Considering that, it is a truly wonderful building.
I went to the pilgrim mass, but it was absolutely packed, and went on on Spanish for ages. I gave my seat up for an old lady, and left before the botafumeiro business.... I have seen it before and it is truly impressive.
I am starting to feel somewhat rested, even looking forward to getting going tomorrow. I know my way a bit, as Andrew and I walked to Muxia together in Christmas of 2008.
South America is really big and I have never been there. I am leaving the safety of my teaching job to explore 5 spanish-speaking countries and to walk in the footsteps of Charles Darwin on the Galapagos Islands. I am hoping that neither the perilous altitudes of Ecuador, the ravenous midges in the Peruvian rainforest or the crazy Bolivian bus drivers will kill me... I will doubtless meet other people on the edge of sanity who feel the need to wander away from safety. I hope we can be friends.
