A hobbit in Trevelez

So I did plan to find the snow but gave up after climbing more than 2000 m (from a start of about 1450 m). The snow still seemed very very far away. But I built a rock-man.
What a stunning walk though. An ancient and superbly constructed (mediaeval?) path that just led into the hills and abandoned old cortijos, horsemen and dogs herding cows into the mountain, and the ever-present loose dry stone and evidence of many avalanches. If JohnWayne had appeared I wouldn't have blinked.
In fact apart from the three horsemen the only other people I actually spoke to were a Spanish couple from near Merida who were "encantado" to meet me. Lovely.
I walked back after a dodgy dry descent - thank goodness for poles - along the Rio Trevelez and went straight up into the Middle Quarter for a bet and tapas. I phoned Andrew too and it was nice to  hear his voice.
I feel a bit sunburnt again. I Bought some afrer sun yesterday for my neck and will keep using it.
People are talking about snow or rain on Monday. The countryside could certainly use it.
Tomorrow to Berchules. My last big climb I think.

It looks wonderful. Fro the photos I wish I was there too. From the words it sounds a bit hairy. Take care! Cx
