It is absolutely forbidden to take photos inside the monastery but I went on a 45 minute tour (in Spanish of course) and understood quite a lot of it. My friend Ernesto helped translate. Then we went to vespers with the Cistercian monks. There was a lot of chanting in Spanish and sitting down and standing up. The monks were very devout and it was a real privilege to be there.
Then Ernesto and another Spanish cyclist pilgrim went for supper with me in a cafe nearby. I had sopa de figeos, which was basically a rather gloopy pasta soup. Great for energy toddy though.
I really recommend Oseira; it is a really special place and the pilgrims who go there are not run of the mill either. But perhaps it is not a good idea to try navigating away in the dark and the rain. That was pretty hard to be honest and I had to be a real Sherlock Holmes!
